Deprecated signal tags

We have deprecated "signal" tags in favour of "data set" tags (introduced in October 2023), which serve the same purpose of providing an automatically maintained tag with all companies / entities in a data set, in a much more elegant way.

Deprecation date: January 2024

Existing signal tags will still work, where they have been used. However, they will no longer be updated, and they will no longer be created automatically upon data import.

Signal tags

Signal tags look like these in the Library, and were previously automatically created by default, in the "Upload" folder, whenever data is imported. However, a separate tag is created for each entity type & signal combination, which resulted in lots of tags cluttering the Library, and made it difficult for users to browse/search through their large number of tags.

Data set tags work in a simpler way, with some key differences:

  • A data set has to be setup in order to use data set tags.
  • A data set tag contains all entities of a specific entity type, in a data set.
  • Data set tags are not found in a Library (reducing clutter), but can be browsed & selected anyway in the Exabel app where a tag can be used.
  • There is only 1 data set tag per entity type in a data set, even if there are multiple signals on that entity type.
