Introducing Similarweb API integration

Introducing our latest integration with Similarweb, a leading provider of web traffic and engagement data. Now, Exabel users with Similarweb API access can seamlessly query the API using Exabel signal expressions, unlocking the full potential of the Similarweb API. Leverage Similarweb's comprehensive data within Exabel's analytics and visualization platform, alongside fundamental and other alternative data.

Getting started

You must first add your Similarweb API key to your Exabel customer. If you have been enabled for this (contact us at [email protected]), you will see this on your account page. Note that this API key will be saved and used for all users in your customer.

Set your Similarweb API key from the Exabel account page

Once this is done, you can then create and use signals that query the Similarweb API. For example, the amazon.com visits and duration data in the chart above was retrieved by using the following signal expressions:

sweb_visits('amazon.com', country='US')

sweb_duration('amazon.com', country='US')

Our Similarweb integration is designed to pass-through the same parameters that are available in the Similarweb API. We have integrated the following Similarweb APIs (see our documentation for full details):

  • Visits (all / desktop / mobile)
  • Pages per visits (all / desktop / mobile)
  • Average visit duration (all / desktop / mobile)
  • Bounce rate (all / desktop / mobile)
  • Pageviews (all / desktop / mobile)
  • Unique visitors (desktop / mobile)
  • De-duplicated audience
  • Global rank
  • Country rank
  • Segment traffic & engagement

Exabel caches repeated queries for 24 hours

When you query the Similarweb API through the Exabel integration, this consumes your account's API "hits", as if you had made the query yourself.

Exabel caches the results for 24 hours, so repeated queries through Exabel on the same day will only incur the cost once.

Note that certain Exabel features such as Alerts involves evaluating your signals daily. If you use the Similarweb signals in these features, you will incur the cost of making the API query each time (unless the previous query was made <24 hours ago, and is still cached).
