Introduction

What is Exabel?

Exabel is a powerful analytics platform for investment teams to research and monitor investments using alternative data. It comes with dozens of integrations with market, fundamental, and alternative data sources so you can get started in minutes. Exabel lets you easily compare and combine data across multiple sources (including your own proprietary data), transform and visualize data, set up monitoring with dashboards and alerts, and map data to KPIs to train accurate prediction models. Data teams and analysts/PMs can collaborate in a single environment, easily sharing analysis and results.

Data

Data is the foundation to any investment analysis. There are three categories of data on Exabel:

  1. Foundational data: market, fundamental and consensus data from Factset and Visible Alpha

  2. Alternative data: integrated, analysis-ready data from leading alternative data partners, covering global equities across all sectors (available only with partner licenses)

  3. Bring your own data: you can import your own proprietary data

Exabel's data integrations are available instantly to any user with the necessary licenses, allowing you to get started in minutes, without having to wait for data ingestion. These are all live data integrations, so any analysis you develop will continue to be updated with live data.

📘

Exabel is a time series analysis platform

Exabel is built for time series data and analysis, which is critical in the financial domain.

Data that you import should also be in the form of time series. If you have non-time series data sets such as transaction data, this must be pre-aggregated into a time series and then imported into Exabel.

Exabel is data vendor-agnostic

Exabel is a general analytics platform that can work with any time series data from any vendor.

Our data partnerships make it easier for you to get started with alternative data, but you are equally free to import data from other providers, and even your own proprietary data.

Customer data is segregated and private

Data that you import, your analysis, and analysis results are always private to you.

Analytics

Exabel Core

Exabel's core functionality lets you access, transform and combine your data; visualise data in charts and dashboards; deep-dive into companies; and collaborate with your team.

  • Data Explorer: Browse and search for data across all your vendors / sources.

  • Plotter: Visualize your data in charts, and test out new signal expressions that transform your data.

  • Signal Expressions: Transform your signal data with Excel-like formulas.
Example: aggregate daily data to company fiscal quarters, calculate YoY change, or average 2 signals from different data sets.

  • Dashboards: Monitor data across multiple companies through interactive tables and charts.
Example: quarterly KPI dashboard with trends in credit card spend + web & app traffic, consensus revisions, KPI model predictions for the coming quarter, and recent price action.

  • Drill-downs: Deep-dive into a specific company or entity with custom charts and tables.

  • Library: Organize your signals, dashboards, models, etc in folders, and share with your team.

Exabel Predict

Exabel Predict helps you map and model fundamental company KPIs using alternative data.

  • KPI Analyzer: Monitor, Map and Model alternative data to company KPIs. Identify which signals best track the KPIs you care about, and train models that combine these to make accurate predictions.

  • KPI Mapper: Browse and manage KPI mappings, and review results across collections of KPI mappings.

  • Prediction Models: Create advanced prediction models from scratch, or do more advanced customization of your models from the KPI Analyzer.

Exabel Strategy

Exabel Strategy is built for quants to test signals for alpha potential and risk metrics, and combine multiple signals to build portfolios.

  • Alpha Tests: Pick a set of signals and a universe of tags and/or screens, and test each pair of signal+tag/screen for alpha and risk. This lets you iteratively develop and test variations of signal transforms. Compare multiple alpha tests to identify the best signals in terms of return, Sharpe / information ratio, drawdown, etc.

  • Portfolio Strategies: Combine multiple signals with optimised alpha characteristics to build long-only or long/short portfolio strategies. Control for portfolio risk, style factors, sector & country exposures. Then run a backtest and optionally start live-tracking the strategy.
