Exabel's KPI Mapper allows analysts, data teams and vendors to browse and manage their KPI mappings, across their entire universe of companies.

To find the KPI Mapper, click on KPIs -> KPI Mapper in the Exabel menu. This shows all the KPI mapping collections available to you, organized in sections for your personal mappings, shared mappings, and curated mappings from vendors.

KPI mappings & collections

A KPI mapping is a single link / relationship between one company KPI and one "proxy" time series.

KPI mappings are organized into collections in the KPI Mapper. Exabel's curated vendor mappings are saved as separate collections per vendor. You may create collections for your own mappings, optionally split by sector/country/etc.

KPI mapping collections may be found in the Library and shared with other users, thus allowing your team to collaborate on KPI mappings.

Browsing a KPI mapping collection

When you open a KPI mapping collection, you'll see links to browse:

  • Company-specific mappings: targeted, granular mappings to the most important KPIs for each company, and optimized to best track each KPI.
  • Bulk mappings: broad mappings done in a standardized way across many companies at once.
  • Results: review KPI analysis results across all mappings (both bulk & company-specific)

Bulk vs company-specific mappings

Bulk mappings take hundreds or thousands of companies and create standardized mappings to a common KPI (e.g. sales) and proxy signal, which helps to bootstrap a new data set. This is then complemented by company-specific mappings that target the most important KPIs for each company with fine-tuned proxy signals to optimize for predictive power.

Exabel's curated vendor mappings include both bulk and company-specific mappings. We generally find that bulk mappings are most helpful to establish broad coverage quickly for new data sets, but that company-specific mappings are more accurate (in terms of modelling performance) and valuable to customers, as they target the most important KPIs for each company, and are tuned specifically for that company & KPI.
